"Contrary to popular myth, film and media related qualifications remain consistently in the top three most employable degree subjects* in the UK and the fastest growing subject at school** So with the shock announcement of the UK Film Council's axing,  the often forgotten major support it has offered to grass root, chalk face training organisations like ourselves reaching over 600 UK schools - will - if not maintained through alternative routes - deal a long term blow to the employment and training opportunities  of a generation already facing the bleakest graduation prospects for three generations. WIth the government intention to continue more direct funding we look forward to clarifying how the UKFC's key role in education will be remodelled to meet the coalitions desire for transparency."
