To that end we have published a series of policies explaining our aims and objectives for Safeguarding, Vulnerable Adults and Risk. Although as professionals we entrust you the teachers and educators with the skills and expertise to manage young people and their online activities safely - our aim is to support those safekeeping aims and to help provide you with every assistance and advice for wellbeing within our communities. to ensure those at risk have the protections afforded by our secure password protected user accounts and website learning spaces. Please keep in mind that like the majority of Private Companies and those with Charitable purposes or aims, UKfilmNet is not subject to Freedom Of Information Act or related requests and that the retrieval and the management of backups of any materials, grades, of other resources of any nature or format must remain the sole responsibility of you the end user. We are unable to facilitate FOI requests and indeed as a small non-profit volunteer project, any sort of requests for copies of any materials or assets you have uploaded - or misplaced - even if accessible by us - are likely to involve your meeting any costs any such request could incur.. So please, as responsible educators, do ensure you keep your own copies of all your work or grades and marking..
OUR POLICIES TOWARDS SAFEGUARDING & RISK
UKfilmNet is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults in so far as they are engaged in organisation-related activities and services.
This policy and procedure sets out UKfilmNet’s approach to preventing and reducing harm to children and vulnerable adults when they are in contact with any member of the UKfilmNet community including staff, participants, contractors and volunteers. It also highlights the procedures for reporting concerns.

HEALTH & SAFETY & RISK
The purpose of risk assessment is to identify hazards and evaluate any associated risks to health and safety arising from UKfilmNet’s activities, enabling informed decisions to be taken to eliminate or minimise any risk of harm.
Under Regulation 3(1) of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 UKfilmNet has a duty to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the health and safety at work of employees and participants.

It is the general policy of UKfilmNet to ensure that all employees and participants who may be potentially vulnerable - for example, due to their age, declared disability or condition, or sexual orientation - are given an appropriate level of support so that they are not harmed by being in our working environment.
For those vulnerable adults participating in our work, especially in person - we require the supervision of responsible adults or supervisors normally charged with their care to take an active supervisory role.

DISCLOSURE & BARRING
As an organisation using the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checking service to help assess the suitability of applicants for positions of trust, UKfilmNet complies fully with the code of practice regarding the correct handling, use, storage, retention and disposal of certificates and certificate information as part of wider obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018 and other relevant legislation.
